WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT PETER NEW

"As with much sketch comedy, the humour often depends on the conviction of the performers to keep it aloft. A running gag about a burglar who befriends, then romances, the voice for an alarm system wouldn't work if it wasn't for the range of Peter New's emotional spectrum as the thief." - Shawn Conner, The Vancouver Courier, March 17th, 2006

"Sketch artists Morgan Brayton and Peter New are also very funny, particularly when they're onstage together. In an especially memorable scene, Brayton plays a "competitive eating" coach training a young protege for 2010, played by New in an ill-fitting singlet. What starts out looking like a cheap fat joke becomes the storey of the coach's lost dreams in Seoul - she got cocky, threw her last green pea in the air and missed - and then turns into a surreal and hilarious scene in which New takes an excruciatingly, awkwardly long time to sweep up the crumbs left by the doughnut he's devoured. Cursing under his breath, the young athlete insists that there's no way his American counterparts have to clean up their doughnuts." - Charles Demers, The WestEnder, March 16th, 2006

"The show's production quality is topnotch: great sound and lighting, smooth transitions, and excellent use of video. My favourite video segment was a recurring Mike McCardell portrayed by New, whose mannered talks to the camera were as insipid as the real ones on Global TV." - Guy MacPherson, The Georgia Straight, March 16th, 2006

"Kudos to Peter New, Trevor Devall, Penelope Corrin and Morgan Brayton for filling Snides with strong evidence of their individual and collective new talents." - Peter Birnie, The Vancouver Sun, March 11th, 2006

"Take Mike McCardell, for instance. Go to www.doublexposure.tv and you'll find a promo clip for The Snides of March that has comedian Peter New doing a wickedly accurate impersonation of McCardell, famous for finding human-interest stories under any rock. Or, in this case, in a hole." - Peter Birnie, The Vancouver Sun, March 2nd, 2006

"Also on Thursday evening, Blackout Broadcast presented a faux radio-news program complete with acted-out commercials, starring Peter New, Jackie Blackmore, and Dylan Rhymer. The jokes came fast and furious. Why aren't these folks on the CBC? Their show is tailor-made for radio. Lord knows the Mother Corp. needs a new injection of funny." - Guy MacPherson, The Georgia Straight, February 23rd, 2006
